Weave of Life

Mindfully made art and objects that honor nature, memory, and community connection.

Overview

Weave of Life is an evolving modular installation by Nancy Fritz, a Fort Wayne-based artist whose work combines encaustic painting, salvaged materials, and sacred geometry to explore nature, memory, and community connection. The current scope will include 600–700 individually crafted encaustic and mixed media panels, forming a large-scale Flower of Life pattern—a symbol used across cultures to represent wholeness and interconnection.

The earliest panels incorporate drawings, handwriting, and personal imagery from the last 40 years of the artist’s life. As the project grows, Nancy is integrating reclaimed materials sourced through Wunderkammer Company’s Zero Landfill Day, transforming discarded design samples into contemplative works of art. These materials include textiles, upholstery, carpet tiles, and other remnants that would otherwise enter the waste stream. The modular nature of the work allows it to expand, adapt, and travel to public exhibitions while maintaining a strong connection to place and community.

Weave of Life will serve as both a large-scale visual archive and a platform for community dialogue around sustainability, connection, and creative transformation.

Project Timeline: This is a 12-month project running from January 2026 to January 2027.

Goal: $50,000 in funding to expand and implement this phase of the project
